My son turned 6 this year and thanks to the help of my amazing boyfriend and sisters, we put together what I think was his best birthday party to date!
We did a superhero theme which I think is a dream come true for many 6 year old boys. The theme was entirely his idea & i loved it because it gave each kid a chance to dress up as their personal favourite hero or make up one.
I put on my DIY hat on and designed his invites, made a photo frame and Batman table cloths while my boyfriend rented us the Spider-Man jumpining castle and my sister and I baked and decorated a big birthday cake in the shape of the number 6. I would've loved to bake a superhero cake but as you can see from the looks of the birthday cake: I'm really not the best baker so I had to settle my ambitious spirit and go with an easier alternative.
It was really fun and easy putting everything together and my son helped some so we got tons of quality time together planning and creating.
I got the hard board from Jenny's Place and simply printed out pictures of superheroes to paste on with craft glue to make the photo frame.
I also printed out the bat signal and stapled them onto black tablecloths that we already own and got balloons on the colours that superman and Spider-Man wear (red, yellow and blue), filled then up with water for the kids to enjoy a fun water balloon fight!
Also, the ultimate mom-hack is a little treasure of a snack shop just before you enter China town that sells chips, sweets, cookies, allows for cheap cheap ya'll!!
I really didn't break the bank for this party, just tons of love and lots of effort. How do you and your children celebrate birthdays? I'd love to hear from you!
