On Living & Loving Care-free

Riding: Young, Wild, Free.

So its independence weekend and I am having the most care-free time of my life. My cub is staying at this dads and so my bestie/boyfriend/lover/everything and I have retreated to Swakopmund (my favourite place in the whole world) for the weekend. If my writing seems a bit off, I owe it to all the beach sand grains lodged all over my body and the salty sea water that singed my eyes from all the swimming in the ocean and the sound of crashing waves in my ears.

Don’t you just love the sound of that? I do! I love getting away from the hustle and bustle of the city, I love the smell of the ocean in the air, I love the way we both get super chill when we’re here (it’s almost as though we both leave our anxiety at the road block on our way here), the one on one quality time of being submerged into each other, no work or yoga classes to teach or companies to run or lion-cub to tend to, just us – in a love bubble for a full 96 hours (yes, we took Monday off from work, because we refused to not have a long weekend – we deserve this shit)! My heart is so full, when I am here everything becomes lighter, I am care-free and deeply in love.

Yesterday I convinced him to go cycling along the beach and it was heaven. Guys! Do you remember when you were a child and had finally learned how to ride a bicycle with confidence? Do you remember that feeling, the bliss, the freedom, the independence, and the fearlessness, the wind in your face, the sunshine in your pocket and the joy in your heart? That’s what it was like for me yesterday and seeing my partner with the same look on his face made it even more special. We got those old school, cute bikes with the big handle bars and the bells attached to them. It was such a dream, we truly created a very special memory together; and I know that, those memories, the ones that strengthen bonds, are the types of experiences that we should pour ourselves into more and more because more than gifts or material things, the experiences that we have together maximise our happiness more than anything, trust me, (I learned about this in my Positive Psychology course, it’s been researched, I know what I’m talking about) ;)
