Gratitude is the sense of appreciation and thankfulness that we experience when we take time and allow ourselves to notice all the beauty, goodness and joy in our lives. The art of counting our blessings is known as a gratitude practice which calls us to actively notice, write down and express our thankfulness to or for all that we have and or know. A gratitude practice teaches us how to focus on the positive aspects of life, which tends to create feelings of happiness and increases our wellbeing, this is in accordance with many spiritual practices, positive psychology and my own personal experience.
My gratitude practice entails me writing down at least 5 things that I am grateful for every day, and bdyond that, I challenge myself to express that sense of grstefulness to those around me too!
My gratitude practice has lifted my mood and left me with a sense of lingering joy so I decided to do one long gratitude list for 2018, it went on for four pages so I'll only share a few with you:
I am grateful for how deeply I got to know myself and for how much I learned to love and accept myself.
I am grateful for bonding moments and love-filled memories with Damian
I am grateful for AJ's life (RIP)
I am grateful for all the money that I made this year.
I am grateful for all the lessons I have learned this year.
I am grateful to be a talented writer.
I am grateful for all my travels and adventures.
