Phnom Penh is full of activities and adventures that are family friendly. My son says that one of his favorite things about living in Phnom Penh are the endless events and things to do, this is definitely a sentiment that I share! Groups like Phnom Penh Mamas and Phnom Penh Parents are super helpful when it comes to sharing information about activities, events, childcare and even for choosing the right school for your 3rd Culture Child/Children as well as the recommended neighbourhoods for families to live in, in the city.
Bowling and Gaming at Aeon Mall (Sen Sok City)
Dream Games Arcade
Dream Games is located in Aeon Mall, Sen Sok City and boasts an array of thrilling games from Toy Catchers, The Walking Dead, Basketball, Hockey, Dancing and Karaoke (where I shamelessly butchered a dozen Adele songs!) It costs about $10 for 50 gaming chips and games go for anything between 1-3 tokens per game!
Bowling
BluO at Aeon Mall offers a vibrant bowling experience with hip music blasting artists like VannDa, flashing lights and a fully stocked out bar serving both alcoholic and non alcoholic drinks. At just $5 per person, Rhythm and Bowl makes for quite the affordable family friendly activity where you can also grab a quick bite to eat with meals like chicken wings costing as little as $5. We had an incredible time bowling, enjoying the music and goofing around. The staff were super friendly and helpful (they actually taught us how to bowl) and the service was stellar! Watch my tiktok video about our experience here bonus content about the Arcade which is also located in Aeon Mall in my video!
MiniGolf at Trellion Park in Koh Pich (Diamond Island)
Birdies Mini Golf is located in Trellion Park with is filled with lush greenery, huge trees and stunning water features that make for a unique aesthetic as you attempt to hit those hole-in-ones for which you can win some cool prizes like my son did. You can check out the TikTok content I created highlighting the amazing time we had there!
Skating at Factory
If you own your own pair or roller skates or skateboard, Factory has a rad skate park with cute ramps donated by Skateistan, a nonprofit organisation with a focus on empowering children through education and skateboarding. Skating at the Factory is absolutely free and there is an option to ride city bikes or play basketball in the allocated spaces outside the skate park too - all at no cost!
Factory is also a hotspot for cool events like the Halloween event and Anime Fest that we attended in 2021.
One Day Hiking Trip
These one day hiking trips give individuals and families the chance to explore Cambodia a little beyond the city. A two to three hour bus ride leads to an adventure that includes a guided hike to some stunning waterfalls and a picnic. The trip usually costs about $35 per person and my son (11) and I have seen families with children as young as 8 do the hikes. Watch my TikTok vlogs about all our hiking trips so far:
